The Barn hosts annual Family Health & Fitness Week
Queen Creek, AZ--A-Z Sports Camps announces National Health & Wellness Week to be held at The Barn, in Queen Creek, Arizona, September 22-25, 2010. This week is filled with four big days of activities to get the youth and family in motion.  We plan to host a community carnival, a two-day health & wellness expo, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, 3 point contest & skills challenge, family skating night, and a multi-sport fundraising challenge showcasing soccer, basketball, football, and hockey.

Family Health & Fitness Day USA is the largest national health and fitness event for families. The event's purpose is to promote family involvement in physical activity, which is an important factor in motivating people to exercise, according to the U.S. Surgeon General's Report on Physical Activity and Health.  According to the report, people of all ages can benefit from regular physical activity. Disease prevention, increased strength and endurance, and a reduction in feelings of anxiety and depression are some of the benefits cited.

Jerome Daniels, Former AZ Cardinal NFL Player, says, "This is a great opportunity for organizations to showcase the recreational and fitness opportunities they offer to their communities all year round."

The family Health & Wellness EXPO (EXPO) is a bi-annual community exposition showcasing products, services and treatments from healthcare and wellness industry providers including: hospitals, physicians & surgeons, pharmaceutical, diet, food, nutrition, fitness, finance & insurance, government and community resources.

EXPO is held to provide area residents with information vital to achieving good health and quality of life. EXPO gives area hospitals, physicians, service providers and vendors a unique opportunity to educate the public, network with other business and organizations, promote good public health, showcase resources, develop valuable contacts and promote their products and services.

In addition to the more than 200 booths attendees will find at the event, other attractions will include a Fitness Center, Pharmacy, Healthy Kitchen, Farmer’s Market, Relaxation Station, Refresh Station, Men, Women, Senior, Family, and Kids Zones, and Community Carnival.

Free health screenings will be available such as blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, body mass, vision, hearing, dental, mammogram, and cancer. There will also be a blood drive, organ donor drive, and food/clothing drive to benefit local charities and the community.

Door prizes will be given away each hour.   We look forward to making a lasting impact on the lives of the families in our community and will ensure a brighter future for all.  We have sponsorship opportunities, exhibitor and food vendor booth, and advertisement in the complex and program available.

For more information about the Health & Wellness Week, please contact Kristin Foard (602) 391-8876 or Jerome Daniels (602) 768-3394 www.ahealthwellnessexpo.com.

Fatal collision near Gary Rd and Hunt Hwy
On Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 6:38 a.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call regarding a serious injury accident in the 1000 block of West Fruit Tree Road, San Tan Valley.

When deputies arrived, they learned that seventy-one year old Llamado Novelo was out for a morning walk with her adult daughter. The driver, thirty-two year old Anthony Adams never saw Ms. Novelo or her daughter before he put his vehicle into reverse and began to back up. Ms. Novelo was struck by the vehicle and fatally injured.

Ms. Novelo was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, it does not appear that alcohol or drug impairment is a factor.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
